Each syringe containing 5 g of sterile suspension contains cloxacillin benzathine equivalent to 600 mg of cloxacillin and ampicillin trihydrate equivalent to 300 mg of ampicillin.
It is administered as an infusion into the udder of heifers and lactating cows as they enter the dry period. It should absolutely not be used during lactation. After the last milking, the teat is cleaned and disinfected, and the contents of one syringe (tube) are applied to each udder. The syringe tip should be placed in the teat orifice but not fully inserted.
In cattle, it is used to treat existing mastitis immediately after the last milking of lactation (when entering the dry period) and to protect against new infections throughout the dry period. It is active against microorganisms associated with mastitis, such as Streptococcus agalactiae, penicillin-resistant/susceptible Staphylococci, Arcanobacterium spp., and E. coli.
It should not be used in cows with a short dry period and within 49 days before calving.
For milk:Milk obtained within 156 hours (6.5 days) after birth should not be offered for human consumption. If birth occurs earlier than 49 days after administration of the medication, the residue period is applied as “49 days + 156 hours”. If accidentally used during lactation, the resulting milk should not be consumed for 28 days.
For meat:Cows should not be sent to slaughter until 28 days have passed after receiving the medication.
